Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad star Bob Odenkirk is coming to the small screen soon with a new dark comedy series, Lucky Hank, based on Richard Russo's 1997 novel Straight Man.

An official synopsis reads: "Lucky Hank is an eight-episode mid-life crisis tale about the unlikely chairman of the English department in a badly underfunded college in the Pennsylvania rust belt."

A scowling Bob plays a 'sharp-tongued English chairman in residence at a U.S. college called William Henry 'Hank' Deveraaux Jr'. Streaming giant Stan dropped a teaser trailer for the upcoming drama which will premiere at the end of March 2023.

A spectacled, stern-looking Bob can be seen staring into the camera sporting a grey beard as he introduces himself as Hank in the voiceover and says: "I've always been a difficult man.

"I specialise in minor strife and insignificant irritation. That's my lane." A duck is then seen waddling past his office.

Lucky Hank also stars Mireille Enos (World World Z) as Hank's wife and Olivia Scott Welch (Marvel's Agent Carter) as his daughter. Peter Farrelly (Green Book) is directing the series while Odenkirk and his wife Naomi are executive producers.

Odenkirk said last year: "I am thrilled that AMC is embracing the unique scenario and characters in [Aaron Zelman and Paul Lieberstein]'s adaptation.

"I have loved the mix of comedy and drama in Better Call Saul, and this is another story with a unique dynamic – the kind of closely observed character writing and exploration that AMC has become the touchstone for. It's going to be fun to play and watch."
