Whether you grew up in the 1990s and now miss iPods, or you wish you were old enough to have had one, this app will tick the box.

Apple discontinued the much-loved music player last year, after more than 20 years.

Who can remember spending hours loading songs onto it and categorising them?

An app can transform your phone into a retro-style iPod.

Called - conveniently - Retro Pod, it has gone viral after being featured on TikTok and Gen Z are loving it.

It is currently number 11 on the App Store’s chart of Music apps.

It gathers music from your Apple Music library and plays it through the iPod interface, and has the click wheel function that works like the player.

Haptic feedback when scrolling makes it feel like the real thing.

While sadly it does only work with Apple Music, there is an option for Spotify users.

Simply visit ipod.js for a Spotify browser version.

The iPod came out in 2001 and was the first MP3 player capable of storing 1,000 songs.

It also came with a 10-hour battery life.

Later versions included the Pod mini and iPod nano.

However, the introduction of the iPhone led to the demise of the iPod as everyone started using their phone for music.

The latest version was the iPod Touch, and it hasn't been updated since 2019.

Apple said it would continue to sell the Touch "while supplies last".
