Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has not only teased Jumanji 3, but also hinted that it could be the last one in the franchise.

He originally joined forces with Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan for 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which was a direct sequel to the original 1995 Jumanji, starring the late, great, Robin Williams. Technically, the next movie would be Jumanji 4, but we're counting the new run of movies as the current franchise.

Two years after its reincarnation, the trio reunited for follow-up, 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level, with both movies getting praise for their humour and performances.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise that fans are chomping at the bit for another jungle game-inspired adventure, and according to The Rock himself, fans should be excited for what could be the big finale.

“I can’t wait for [Jumanji 3]”, Dwayne explained to virginradio.co.uk and other press at the Black Adam UK premiere in London on Tuesday (18th October).

He continued: “I'm working with Jake Kasdan, who's our director.  We're doing a movie called Red One together. But we'll continue to write, develop Jumanji 3. I cannot wait!”

On it potentially coming to an end, Dwayne teased: “Jake has a very, very special cool idea that for Jumanji 3 could be the finale. But in the spirit of that, it's really special. I'll just say that.”

In the Jumanji franchise, the Hollywood star plays the suave Dr Xander “Smoulder” Bravestone, a playable character within the videogame concept of Jumanji, which was originally a board game in the very first instalment.

Meanwhile, Dwayne is busy promoting his superhero debut in Black Adam, in which he plays the titular comic book character.

Black Adam is a passion project for Dwayne, having initially announced plans to bring the powerful superhero to life 15 years ago, but the former wrestler was determined to make sure the film made it to the big screen.

Speaking with virginradio.co.uk and other press, Dwayne explained: “As a superhero fan, in Black Adam, you have a character who has all the powers of Superman. He could go toe-to-toe with Superman. That's compelling to me.

“Yet he has this really complex backstory, that his family were all slaves and he was a slave. His family was ripped away from him, and gone forever. He's blessed with these powers that he doesn't want. That's a compelling, interesting, dangerous character to me.”

Black Adam is out in cinemas on Friday 21st October.
