The Russells are keeping it in the family, as Kurt and his son Wyatt are set to appear in a new series on Apple TV+.

The as-yet untitled project on which 71-year-old Kurt actor and his 36-year-old son team up, will be a live action series, based on Legendary's Monsterverse franchise. It will make up part of the Godzilla and Titans monster series.

At this stage, the duo’s roles haven’t been divulged, but we do know that the action will be set in the aftermath of last year’s Godzilla vs. Kong, following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that levelled San Francisco, and the shocking new reality that monsters are real.

The new series will explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organisation known as Monarch.

The new show will inhabit the same universe that we have seen in 2014’s Godzilla film, 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters and 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, as well as the anime series, Skull Island.

This new Godzilla and Titans project will represent the first time Kurt and Wyatt have acted together since all the way back in 1998, when Wyatt played a young version of his father’s character in the 1998 film Soldier.

More recently, Kurt has appeared in F9: The Fast Saga, as well as Netflix’s Christmas Chronicles movies and the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.

Meanwhile, Wyatt Russell has recently worked on Under the Banner of Heaven on Hulu, and has also worked on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and The Woman in the Window.

Other stars that have already been announced for the new Apple TV+ show include Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.

WandaVision’s Matthew Shakman will direct the first two episodes and serve as executive producer on the untitled series. Shakman has also worked on Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult’s hit series, The Great.
