Ray Liotta’s final TV appearance is heading to Apple TV+ next month.

Blackbird stars Ray, who passed away aged 67 in May, as a veteran policeman whose imprisoned son, played by Taron Egerton, is promised freedom if he draws out a confession from a suspected serial killer.

Apple TV have dropped the gritty drama’s first trailer, which starts with Ray’s character speaking with son Jimmy while he’s in prison.

Within the first moments of the trailer, the much-loved actor in character says: “I never wanted this for you. I wanted a totally different life. A steady paycheck. Kids. A family.”

“Tell me there’s a way out of this,” Taron’s character Jimmy responds, before his father replies: “Not a quick one.”

The drama heats up when fans get a glimpse of Jimmy’s arrest, but shortly after, he is then offered the opportunity of freedom if he helps to get a confession out of a man suspected of killing 14 women.

“You want me to check into hell and befriend a demon? Not for all the money in the world,” says Jimmy, before he is offered his old life back.

Larry Hall (Paul Walter Hauser) admits to dreaming about killing women, but the police want his confession to actual murders before his conviction is appealed and he is released.

The crime thriller is based on real events, and will see Jimmy attempt to get the truth out of the suspected killer on where the bodies are buried, but can he trust Larry’s word?

Blackbird will mark Ray’s final small-screen role following his tragic death last month.

As reported by Deadline, Liotta passed away in his sleep in the Dominican Republic, where he was shooting the film Dangerous Waters.

The actor was perhaps best known for starring as Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s 1990 classic mobster movie Goodfellas, after appearing in baseball film Field Of Dreams.

Black Bird will land on Apple TV+ on 8th July.
