Another week, another fired candidate. This time it was Nick’s turn to say goodbye to the boardroom, but he believes his team may have won if they did one thing differently.
During tonight’s episode, the candidates were tasked with creating and selling a luxury corporate day at Silverstone, but after some timing issues and negotiation trip-ups, Stephanie’s team, made up of Akshay, Nick and Kathryn failed to impress their client and ended up facing the threat of Lord Sugar’s firing finger.
There was a string of issues with the team’s corporate day, but Nick says he would have done one thing differently that may have saved them.
The entrepreneur said, in hindsight, he wished he had known how much Stephanie made from the tickets and totally scrapped the Scalextric team-building exercise.
He explained: “That cost us about £500, and I wish that I said ‘Look, let’s just not bother spending that money and put our own team building on’, because I reckon, I could have done a pretty good team-building exercise myself and it would have been free.
“Then we might have been able to win the task.”
That said, the candidate knew he was in trouble this week.
He admitted: “I was on pretty thin ice.
“I knew if we’d lost the task at Silverstone, I was in huge trouble. Then obviously the lunch situation went down, where we were just having a bit too much fun in the kitchen and lost track of time.”
Since appearing on The Apprentice, Nick has attracted quite a lot of attention for his posts on social media and has gathered a pretty big following on his TikTok account.
The candidate revealed he sometimes gets up to 5000 comments on his videos and around 3 million views on some of them.
Speaking about his popularity, he said: “I never really use social media, but I started doing TikToks. I started doing them for just myself a lot, but then a couple of videos have now been seen by like 3 million people.”
He added: “There’s been a lot of support, which is fantastic…it has been very touching actually.”
One of the things people have been loving about Nick’s videos is his sense of humour, prompting some viewers to speculate he isn’t a candidate at all but is a comedian or journalist who was planted in the house by Lord Sugar.
Addressing the rumours once and for all, Nick joked: “I don’t know whether it’s a diss or a compliment, but I’m going to go with a compliment.
“No. Lord Sugar doesn’t have a third aide that he planted in the house. I can confirm I’m a candidate.”
He added: I don't know I don't really know where it has come from, to be honest. Hopefully, it's coming from a good place, and people read it and think, ‘Oh, that's funny’, but no, unfortunately, the rumours are not true.”
Finally, when asked who he wanted to see walk away with Lord Sugar’s investment, Nick wasted no time saying he wanted Akeem to win.
He explained: “He's a total legend. I mean, they're all great, but he's stand out. You know, I shared a room with him, but he is such a nice guy.
“And he's so hardworking like he's got such a great business that he’s got to work on.”
The Apprentice continues on 3 March at 9pm on BBC One, followed by You’re Fired on BBC Two. Watch live and on-demand on BBC iPlayer.
