It may sound strange, but apparently, it adds a “wonderful creaminess” to the drink.

It’s always interesting to see the different things that appear on McDonald’s menus across the world.

In the UK, we have the Crème Egg McFlurry, in China, they have a honey chicken rice bowl, and in the Philippines, you can even get McSpaghetti.

‘Calpis’ or ‘Milkis’ is a creamy soda drink from Japan and Korea and one of the more popular drinks on the McDonald’s menu in those countries.

Now, one foodie from Australia has revealed his trick to recreating Calpis using an interesting combination of ingredients.

Instagram user @Adrianwidjy posted a video to his page teaching his followers how to recreate the drink using Sprite and full cream milk.

It may sound strange, but, according to him, you will be pleasantly surprised.

To make the drink, Adrian explains you must order a large Sprite and a small cup of milk from McDonald’s. Open the lid of your Sprite and pour in the milk, mixing it thoroughly with the straw.

“Just trust me,” he says in the video, “I found the addition of milk to your Sprite brings a wonderful creaminess.”

Other people must agree because the video racked up over 90,000 likes, with other foodies taking to the comments to give their own opinions on the drink.

One user wrote: “I was disgusted at first but I kinda see the vision. I mean ice cream floats exist”.

Another simply said: “Confused but intrigued”.

A third said: “Yup! Seems so odd to us Westerners initially but trust the process-it’s actually quite good!”

Many people in the comments also said the drink was popular in other Asian countries such as Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia and Thailand.

Would you give it a go?

In other news, McDonald’s has announced they will be introducing a Chicken Big Mac to the UK after its success in Australia.

The new addition to the menu will appear in 1,300 restaurants for a limited time from 2 February until 15 March.
