If, like us, you enjoy spending your Friday nights sitting on the sofa watching a television show in which people sit on the sofa and watch television shows, then you’re in for a treat, because Gogglebox is back! And ahead of the return of the hit Channel 4 show, an update from two of the most popular couch-sitters has delighted fans.

After last week’s excellent Black To Front episode of Celebrity Gogglebox, the regular show returns to our screens tonight (Friday 17th September) and will see many returning faces including, to the joy of pretty much everyone, Lee Riley and Jenny Newby.

The best mates have spent the entire summer apart, as Lee has been overseas to spend time with his partner, Steve, while Jenny stayed at home with her husband, Ray.

Lee and Steve have been in a long-distance relationship in recent years after the latter decided to move to Cyprus.

TV-watching pals Jenny and Lee are now back together in Hull though, and are ready to return to our screens tomorrow evening. They announced the news on social media, by sharing a selfie of them looking happy on the familiar sofa.

On Instagram, they said: “Look who’s back filming only 2 days to go to Goggle series 18 hope your looking forward to it see ya all on Friday.”

On Twitter, they posted the same photo and simply wrote: “Helloooooo everyone only 2 days to go for GOGGLEBOX FRIDAY see you at 9pm.”

Fans were delighted with the news. One wrote: “The highlight of my week! I have so missed you both and the rest of the gang!!!”

Another added: “This photo has made me so happy. So glad to see you are both back together. I’ll definitely be tuning in on Friday.”

Meanwhile, Googlebox legend Marina has shared a touching tribute to late co-star Mary, following her recent death.

The Bristol-based chums shared some cheeky banter since joining the show in season eight back in 2016.

"My dearest friend Mary," Marina said in a tweet on the official Gogglebox account. "Treasured memories will last forever. Our laughs and giggles and our ups and downs will forever be in my heart. Deepest sympathies to Mary's family. Love Marina."

Andy Michael, another Gogglebox star, also recently died aged 62 after a short illness. The show’s production team paid tribute to him, saying on Twitter: “We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Gogglebox star Andy Michael at the age of 61 following a short illness.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this time. Andy will be truly missed by the entire Gogglebox family, cast and crew.”

Googlebox is on Channel 4 tonight, Friday 17th September, at 9PM.
