Move over banana bread and sourdough, this former Great British Bake Off Contestant has only gone and made Hogwarts out of gingerbread!

Terry Hill appeared on the 2018 series of Bake Off, and it would appear he still has the baking bug. How's this for a showstopper and a half.

Hogwarts is the famous school for witches and wizards from Harry Potter.

This gingerbread construction stands at half a metre tall, is 1.5m long and 1m wide.

Terry made the castle for a client for an event but due to current lockdown rules the event was sadly cancelled.

He told the : "I spent three weeks making the moulds, and then about 50 to 60 hours creating it - it's all made out of gingerbread and icing."

"I'm not a Harry Potter fan as such so I wasn't aware how big Hogwarts Castle actually is. I got a bit of a shock when I saw what it actually looked like - and I think the event organisers got a shock when they saw how accurate I had made it. But it has to be right if I'm going to do it. I do extreme baking."

Where on earth do you begin with a project of this size? He made a cardboard model of his design to work out which pieces he would need to make.

Then, Terry had special tins made to create the towers and turrets.

After baking, he painstakingly assembled it piece by piece.

What an incredible effort! Terry shares all of his baking on Instagram, at @terrythetash
