The last year has seen many of us take up new exercise regimes after gyms were closed for quite a while, and avoiding public transport has inspired lots of people to take up cycling.

Legendary cyclist Geraint Thomas joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky this morning to talk to Sam and Vassos about cycling, and his new book .

If you're thinking about traveling on two wheels, to commute, for fun, or for a workout, Geraint Thomas has got the tips for you!

"For the enjoyment side I think, try and do it with somebody. Obviously, it's hard if you're riding to work but maybe find a colleague that is keen to do it as well" explains Geraint. "Meeting somebody is easier to get you out on your bike. If you know you're going to meet someone, you can enjoy that together and have a nice little coffee stop."

His second tip: "I think your position on the bike is key as well you know, as long as your position is pretty good then it just makes you a lot more efficient and you can go a lot quicker and just enjoy riding. The more you do it the more you get better really, pace yourself, don't go out hammer and tongs at the start because you know it's only going to go one way really" he laughs.

Lastly, think bright: "Be visible, you want to stand out especially now the nights are drawing in and it's raining a lot more. Visible clothing is key."
