Adam Ant's guitarist and musical director Tom Edwards has died at the age of 41

Tom Edwards, who was Adam Ant's guitarist, has passed away at the age of 41, due to suspected heart failure.

The guitarist, who was also Ant's musical director died on Wednesday night at a New Jersey hospital, NME said. 

Ant postponed two shows, which Edwards was supposed to appear in, as a mark of respect. The tour, entitled will begin again on Sunday in Toronto. 

He paid tribute to Edwards in a statement: “On behalf of Adam and his band, we thank all of you for your best wishes and support during this most difficult time.

“Tom shared his musical gifts with the world, and his spirit will live on forever.”

Throughout Edwards career, he also played with people such as Edwyn Collins, Aztec Camera, Andrea Corr, Fields Of The Nephilim and Spiderbites.

The news of Edwards' death was announced on the Adam Ant Facebook page.
