Alan McGee has told Virgin Radio he can’t see Oasis ever reforming – because Noel Gallagher is doing so well on his own.
McGee discovered Oasis playing at King Tut’s Wah Wah Club in Glasgow in 1993 and signed them to Creation records. The following year saw the release of and the rest, as they say, is history.
They eventually split in 2009 and, while a reunion of the band has been mooted on a number of occasions, McGee admits he can’t see it happening – and also confesses he’s not sure he’d want them to.
He told Edith Bowman: “I don’t know if I would like to see Oasis reform. Probably I do, but I don’t know if they ever will. Noel is doing so well, why would he need to? He’s the one person in the whole thing who actually doesn’t need to do it.
“I don’t know – nobody will ever know, bar Noel and Liam – what really went down between them. Something heavy went down, obviously.
“But while Noel is playing to 20,000 people a night, why is he ever going to bother going back to Oasis? Paul Weller never did it with The Jam.”
