The cast of Gavin & Stacey are reportedly working on a behind-the-scenes documentary to mark the final episode of the iconic series - tidy!

As filming began at the Welsh seaside town of Barry Island last week, creators James Corden and Ruth Jones could be seen accompanied by an extra film crew when they greeted fans. Joanna Page, who plays Stacey Shipman in the show, was also seen with the additional camera crew as she geared up to film the Christmas special.

According to the Daily Mail, sources on set say the footage will be used to make documentary about the beloved comedy series.

One source told the paper: “When the cameras filming Gavin & Stacey stopped, other cameras went on to film the behind-the-scenes action. There was loads of lovely footage for the programme; it has been so special for its viewers. James is astute and realises that there is a wonderful story to be told about the making of it and what goes on behind the scenes.”

Fans of the show flocked to Barry Island last week to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars in action and Corden, who also plays Smithy in the series, said he was “overwhelmed” by the support.

He explained: “It's lovely, it's all very overwhelming. It'll likely be the last time we'll be here. All of it, it's wonderful."

The last Gavin & Stacey Christmas special in 2019 drew in 12 million viewers and ended on a massive cliffhanger with Nessa (Ruth Jones) proposing to Smithy. Ever since, people have been desperate to find out what happens.

While we don’t know much about the plot of the final episode, Uncle Bryn actor Rob Brydon told the Chris Evans Breakfast Show live at CarFest that he was “moved to tears” when he first read the script “because it’s emotional.”

The Gavin and Stacey 2024 Christmas special will air on BBC One on 25th December.
