Celebrity MasterChef has revealed two more semi-finalists, but viewers are gutted that one contestant didn’t make it through.

Friday’s episode (30th August) saw quarter-finalists Jake Quickenden, Jamie MacDonald and Tamer Hassan battle it out in the kitchen for a place in the next heat.

In the main challenge, the celebrities had to whip up a two-course meal for judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace in just one hour and 15 minutes. Not only that, but former contestants Su Pollard, Vicky Pattison and Angellica Bell were also on hand to taste the dishes and give their opinions on who should make it to the next round.

It was quite an intense challenge, with Jake impressing all the judges with his pappa al pomodoro starter and pan-fried salmon with crushed potatoes.

Meanwhile, Game of Thrones star Tamer Hassan served up grilled octopus with parsnip puree, which captured the heart of Gregg, followed by a Frutti di mare stew.

Finally, stand-up comedian Jamie cooked up a fillet of beef, served with creamy mashed potato, which was praised for its strong flavours. This was followed by a dessert of chocolate mousse paired with a deep-fried chocolate bar.

After a long deliberation, the judges finally made the decision of who would be continuing to the next round. “I want to tell all three of you that it came down to incredibly fine margins,” Gregg told the contestants.

It was then revealed that Jamie had been eliminated, making Jake and Tamer semi-finalists.

“They are absolutely lovely guys, so I wish them all the luck in the world,” Jamie said about his fellow contestants. “And sod the pair of you for beating me!”

However, many viewers were gutted to see Jamie go.

Taking to social media, one person wrote: “Jamie did so well, and his food looked great! Much better than soggy tomato bread 😔 #justsaying”.

While another viewer tweeted the comedian directly to say: “Sad to see you leave the competition - you did a wonderful job!”

A third said: “Am in awe of Jamie’s cooking on #celebritymasterchef Cannot begin to fathom how he manages to do it all.”

Celebrity MasterChef airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
