The second heat of Celebrity MasterChef 2024 is underway, and one star has been sent home after the first couple of cooking challenges.

This week, the celebrities taking to the kitchen are Line of Duty’s Rochenda Sandall, Team GB sprinter and Gladiator Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, EastEnders actor Danielle Harold, comedian Eshaan Akbar and Chloe Burrows from Love Island.

Last night (August 20th) saw heat two get underway with the Under the Cloche challenge. Each celebrity picked a silver dome, under which was a secret ingredient. They had an hour to create a dish to celebrate their chosen treasure and impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace. Overall, Gregg surmised that the offerings were “not bad.”

After that, the five contestants cooked up their dinner party dishes, with the aim of coming up with a main course and dessert that would satisfy the most demanding guests.

While Rochenda did well, Eshaan’s main wasn’t great, but his dessert was better. Danielle’s main was a mixed bag, but her dessert was better.

Harry's dessert also impressed, while Chloe didn’t blow the judges away, especially with her brownie.

Ultimately, it was Chloe who was eliminated from the competition. “I’m sad. It was a really good group, I really enjoyed today. I had such a good time, if any of the others went, it wouldn’t have been right. So, it is what it is.”

With the remaining four battling it out again on Thursday (22nd August), Rochenda has exclusively told virginradio.co.uk that signing up for this year's Celebrity MasterChef was a surprise from her partner.

“It was always one that I said I wanted to do,” she told us. “It was on my bucket list for definite, and so he had a sneaky phone call with my agent, and they cracked on with the deal without me even knowing.”

She added: “It was a great surprise, kind of a stitch-up, really. It was fantastic.”

In last week's heat, telly and radio presenter Snoochie Shy, Charlotte Crosby and Edith Bowman were all sent home, leaving Ian ‘H’ Watkins from Steps and TV host Craig Doyle to go through to the next stage.

Over the course of the series, viewers will also be able to see the following stars put to the test: OJ Borg, Mutya Buena, Diane Carson, Vito Coppola, Tamer Hassan, Jamie MacDonald, Christine McGuinness, Jake Quickenden, Dominic Skinner and Emma Thynn, Marchioness of Bath.

Celebrity MasterChef airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
