Strictly star Rose Ayling-Ellis is taking on a brand new telly challenge very soon.
The former soap star has joined Channel 4’s line-up for the upcoming Paralympics, meaning she’ll make her debut as a live TV presenter.
She’ll join legendary sports commentator Clare Balding at the Athletes’ Village, joining the likes of fellow Strictly stars Ellie Simmonds and JJ Chalmers, as well as racing-driver-turned-commentator Billy Monger, TV star and paralympic medalist Ade Adepitan and former rugby union star Ed Jackson, to name just a few.

Someone else making their hosting debut will be Gladiators star Jodie ‘Fury’ Ounsley, as well as BAFTA-winning actor Lenny Rush, content creator Milly Pickles, and star of Netflix’s Sex Education, George Robinson.
When all the sporting action finishes for the day, The Last Leg team will take over as Adam Hills, Alex Brooker and Josh Widdicombe will be live in Paris throughout the Games to give their unique take on the day’s events alongside special guests and a live studio audience.
The Paralympics will take place in Paris, France, between 28th August to 8th September, and Channel 4 promise it’ll be the most accessible coverage yet, with all content broadcast with subtitles, live peak time sport will have closed audio description and live sport on More4 and Channel 4 Streaming on weekday afternoons will include BSL live signing.
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be simulcast on 4Seven and Channel 4 Streaming with BSL and open descriptive commentary. Plus, all episodes of The Last Leg and daily highlights programmes will be simulcast on 4Seven and Channel 4 Streaming with BSL live signing. Daily highlights on Channel 4 will also have live closed audio description.
Speaking in a statement announcing the exciting line-up, Channel 4 CEO Alex Mahon said: “Every Paralympic Games we see the transformative power of sport on display. At Channel 4 we are thrilled to be bringing the Paralympics back, bigger and better than ever before.
“We’re incredibly proud that these will be the most accessible Games yet and that we will make the sport available across even more platforms. It means everyone can witness the soaring success and drama of these elite sports. I can guarantee that our ground-breaking presenting team will provide unprecedented fun, insights and viewpoints.
She continued: “We’ve seen how previous Games have challenged attitudes and in 2024 we will do even more to show sports stars at their peak.”
Speaking of Strictly 2021 winner Rose, not only was she on the King's Birthday Honours for 2024 earlier this year, but the former EastEnders was also confirmed to take part in a groundbreaking new thriller, called Reunion, in which the majority of cast and many crew members are deaf or using British Sign Language.
Written and created by Sheffield-born deaf writer William Mager, Reunion is an emotional thriller of revenge and redemption following the journey of Daniel Brennan, a deaf man determined to right his wrongs, while unravelling the truth behind the events that led him to prison.
Rose is joined in the four-part series by lead actor Matthew Gurney, as well as Lara Peake from How to Have Sex, Anne-Marie Duff from Bad Sisters and Back to Black’s Eddie Marsan.
Channel 4’s Paralympic coverage begins 28th August and runs to 8th September. Keep an eye on virginradio.co.uk for exclusive interviews from the presenting line-up very soon!
