‘Love you always’ - Strictly's Amy Dowden shares emotional tribute to husband on wedding anniversary

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has paid tribute to her husband Ben Jones as the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary.

The professional dancer was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May 2023. She had what she hoped was her final chemo treatment in November and in February of this year, a health check showed there was "no evidence of disease".

She is set to return as a full-time member of the Strictly cast this year, having missed the previous series due to her treatment.

Taking to Instagram, the Welsh dancer wrote: “Happy 2nd anniversary! I think it’s fair to say we’ve been through quite a bit during married life 🙈. But I’m forever grateful for you! Thank you for this past year!”

She continued: “I know at times it’s been so tough for you to watch but you kept positive, kept the house clean away from infections 🤣 and tried to keep me as positive as possible. I love you even more!”

Looking to the future, the professional dancer said: “Let’s hope for a smoother year ahead! But what I do know is we have each other! More adventures, my crazy last min plans, house renovations, dance school fun and basically just us being us!”

She concluded: “Love you always xxx your Amy xxx 💖💖💖”

Friends of Amy were quick to comment, with fellow dancer Vito Coppola writing: “Happy anniversary guuuuuuuys ❤️❤️❤️ Cannot wait to see you 😊🙌.”

Another Strictly pro, Dianne Buswell wrote: “❤️❤️❤️ Happy wedding day ❤️ love you both from your bridesmaid 😝😄😄 loves you I do.”

Head judge Shirley Ballas added: “Happy anniversary to two beautiful souls.”

As Strictly Come Dancing fans await news of which celebs will take to the dancefloor in this year’s series of the hit show, Shirley recently visited the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with webuyanycar, where she teased: “When you think it can't get any better… and I know I say it every year, it's a bit cliche, but they've really got some fantastic things lined up for this year. I think people are going to be shocked.”

She added: “And because it's our 20th anniversary, it's going to be absolutely spectacular.

“The wheels are so well oiled. I mean, 20th anniversary! Come on! That's amazing!”

The head judge also recently spoke to virginradio.co.uk and other press about the celeb line-up, while at the TRIC Awards in London. She said: “I believe it’s going to be the most fantastic line-up ever.”

Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to the BBC later this year.
