Latitude Festival 2024: Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh announced for DJ set and arts line-up

Celebrated author Irvine Welsh will not only hit the Latitude Festival 2024 stage for his new novel, Resolution, but he’ll also be on the decks for a late-night DJ set too!

The Trainspotting writer has been added to the already impressive list of artists heading up the Conversations, Podcasts and Poetry stages, and will present his new novel, Resolution, to the audience. 

This third instalment in the number one Sunday Times bestselling crime series follows maverick investigator Ray Lennox, who moves from Edinburgh to Brighton to escape his past. However, an encounter with the enigmatic Mathew Cardingworth forces Lennox to confront long-buried memories and a haunting mystery involving foster care boys.

Outside of his new book, Irvine will also turn his attention to music, and treat fans to an exclusive late-night DJ set. 

Speaking in a statement, Irvine revealed: “I'm excited to return to Latitude this year; the audiences here are as vibrant and passionate as the performers. Latitude is one of those festivals where you get a real sense of artistic freedom. A raw, unfiltered energy every appearance exciting. Whether performing in a tent or exploring the grounds, you're surrounded by creativity and enthusiasm.”

Also added to the illustrious Conversations, Podcasts and Poetry stages are The Poetry Exchange with their anthology Poems as Friends, Selena Godden with her latest collection titled Love, Grief and Fury, and Girls on Film; the podcast hosted by Anna Smith. 

Doc Brown will present Sound Like, a unique improvisational panel show based around rhyme and rap, featuring wordsmith hosts Shuffle T, Cruger, Bagnall, and Bleez. 

Latitude has a whole host of incredible talent over their four-day event in July, with headliners  Duran Duran, Kasabian, and Keane.

The likes of Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Khruangbin, Rag’n’Bone Man, Rick Astley and The Mary Wallopers will also perform at the cultural festival, which features plenty of theatre, arts and comedy too. 

Damian Lewis was recently confirmed for his Latitude debut, and is set to perform tracks from his 2023 album Mission Creep as well as some fresh music too.  

The likes of Sara Pascoe, Stewart Lee, Adam Buxton and Jo Brand are also included in the comedy, theatre and arts list. Colin Hoult was announced for the comedy stages and revealed his news on Virgin Radio with Tom Allen

"I'm very excited because I've played Latitude before as well, but I've never got in the comedy tent," he shared. "But I've always been in the sort of literary tent because of my sketchy characters."

He added: "Yeah, yeah. Exciting to just be amongst do proper stand up. Yes. I've got a nice suit from M&S."

Latitude Festival will take place at Henham Park, Suffolk, from 25th to 28th July 2024. Tickets for Barclaycard presents Latitude are on sale now.
