The Chase fans were left in awe after one BBC presenter walked away from the competition with the biggest prize pot ever.

TV and radio star Rick Edwards stepped up to the plate on Monday's (6th May) Beat the Chasers: Celebrity Edition alongside the likes of BBC Breakfast’s Charlie Stayt and comedian Neil Delamere, and showed no fear going up against the likes of Chasers The Menace, The Governess and The Beast.

Rick started off strong by securing £4,000 on his cash builder questions but was then offered the chance to win £120,000 for his chosen charity - a whale and dolphin conservation organisation.

In order to win the eye-watering prize, Rick had to answer as many questions as possible within 60 seconds, plus he had to face off against five Chasers too, who only had 42 seconds to beat him.

The Impossible host managed to answer several questions correctly and left the Chasers sweating with mere seconds left, meaning Rick was able to bag the whopping £120k for charity - the joint biggest prize in Beat the Chasers history.

After his impressive win, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan said: "That was immaculate time management there. A lot of players come on and look at that time advantage in terms of the number of questions they can get wrong."

Viewers took to social media to share their elation at Rick’s majorly impressive victory, with one writing on X (formerly Twitter): “I just knew @rickedwards1 would win, the guy is super intelligent and all round great guy, fully deserves the win. He's Chaser level intelligent. #beatthechasers

Another commented: “Yes Rick, Fantastic win!! Beat all the chasers with 12 seconds left on the clock #BeatTheChasers”, while a third commented: “The bravery I would never find to face 5 chasers bravo #BeatTheChasers.”

Beat The Chasers airs on ITV and ITVX.
