Fans will be furious to find out that a hugely popular show hosted by Danny Dyer has reportedly been "axed" by Channel 4 and won't be returning for a second season.

Scared of the Dark was hugely successful at the time, as an experimental show where various celebrities lived in darkness for a week.

They were set various challenges over the week that put their bravery and teamwork to the test.

Paul Gascoigne was eventually crowned the winner, beating Chloe Burrows, Chris Eubank and Chris McCausland.

More than a million viewers tuned in to the show.

Deadline have reported the news that the show will not be renewed.

Despite raking in more than a million viewers, Channel 4 has decided against it returning for a second series, according to Deadline.

Reports claim that Channel 4 is undergoing big changes with near 250 roles being cut.

If the show is cancelled, it won't be the only one viewers are mourning after they also cancelled SAS: Who Dares Wins and Steph's Packed Lunch.

Another of Danny's shows was axed back in November, which was with Netflix.

He hosted the show Cheat alongside Ellie Taylor, and the show saw contestants scamming their way to big money.

However, it failed to capture the imagination of viewers and was not renewed.

A source told The Sun: 'Danny was great as host, as was Ellie, but Netflix thought one series was just about right.

It didn’t pick up a big following and will hardly go down in game show folklore. He enjoyed making the series, especially banking the pay cheque.' has reached out to Channel 4 for comment.
