Jonathan Nolan is the director behind the highly-anticipated new TV series based on one of the best-selling video games of all time, Fallout.

Set in an alternate timeline, 200 years after a nuclear armageddon wipes out humanity in the 20th century, the series stars the likes of Lucy MacLean, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins and Kyle MacLachlan.

It appears the new adaptation will be in good hands with Westworld creator Jonathan Nolan as director. He has also collaborated on a plethora of award-winning films with his brother, Christopher Nolan, such as The Dark Knight and Interstellar.

Jonathan may be an experienced director, but he admitted that taking on something as big as Fallout has led to some firsts in his career.

Speaking to virginradio.co.uk and other press at a special screening of the Prime video adaptation, the director explained: “One thing I had never done before is the creature effects, so the Yao Guai and the Gulper and the power armour, all of these different things that we had to bring to life.

“Then another thing which I had never really done before was comedy. You know, we've always tried to put levity in everything we've worked on, but not to this level. So working with Graham Wagner, who's a terrific comedy writer and some of the best comic actors around, we're gonna chance to be on set and play and that I was grateful for.”

We also caught up with Kyle MacLachlan, who will play Hank MacLean in the series, and he revealed he was “excited” to join the project.

He added: “I didn't really get a sense of it until I walked on set for the first time, and walked through one of the tunnels, and was overwhelmed at the way they really created it. I mean, it was so realistic, so believable, so practical, everything worked. And I said, ‘Oh, we're in for a fun ride on this.’”

The actor has starred in many beloved TV shows and is know for characters like Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks and Trey MacDougal in Sex and the City. However, he revealed the iconic character people always talk to him about. You can read more about it here

Fallout will be available to stream on Prime Video from 11th April.
