Death in Paradise series 13 release date confirmed and star-studded guest cast unveiled

Hit BBC show Death in Paradise is coming back for a new series, and it’s returning very soon!  

Yes, having teased fans with a new trailer this week, the BBC have now given an exact date as to when the Caribbean crime drama will be on our screens again. And not only that, but they have also confirmed a cracking list of guest stars for the show’s landmark 100th episode, which will kick off the series. 

Death in Paradise will return to BBC One and iPlayer on Sunday 4th February. The new instalment will see the return of Ralf Little as DI Neville Parker, along with Don Warrington (Commissioner Selwyn Patterson), Shantol Jackson (DS Naomi Thomas), Tahj Miles (Officer Marlon Pryce), Ginny Holder (Trainee Officer Darlene Curtis) and Élizabeth Bourgine (Catherine Bordey).

As you would expect, the gang will once again come up against a new string of ingenious cases to crack amid the joys and difficulties of island life.

The show’s milestone 100th episode will see Commissioner Selwyn Patterson celebrate 50 years on the force, before being left fighting for his life as he’s dramatically shot by a mysterious assassin. Will he survive?

The episode will feature an array of guest stars, including EastEnders and Scott & Bailey actor Sean Maguire, who becomes the first guest to reprise their role since appearing in the first ever episode in 2011. Also in the new episode are Outlander’s Leon Herbert, Cathy Tyson from Boiling Point and Andor’s Mensah Bediako.

Elsewhere in the new series, an array of acting talent will show up, including Academy Award winner Hayley Mills, Ellie Haddington from Motherland, Last Tango in Halifax’s Ronni Ancona and Kate Robbins from Unforgotten.

Series 13 also features Pearce Quigley (Detectorists), Richard Fleeshman (The Ark), Juliet Cowan (The Power), Shvorne Marks (The Walk-In), Michael Fenton Stevens (Hapless), Ben Wiggins (You), Guy Henry (Holby City), Kevin Garry (Ted Lasso), Taj Atwal (Hullraisers), Emma Naomi (Bridgerton), Gabrielle Glaister (Coronation Street), Ellise Chappell (Poldark), Ali Ariaie (The Great), Eve Ponsonby (Carnival Row), Emma Sidi (Starstruck), Calvin Demba (The Rig), Rachel Adedeji (Hollyoaks), Richard Lintern (Nolly) and Genesis Lynea (Champion).

Other plotlines in the series include Marlon confronting his future, Naomi double dating with Darlene, and Catherine finding herself embroiled in a murder case when an old friend becomes a suspect. There’s also a deadly game of bingo, a poisoning at a cookery competition, death during a blackout, and a mystifying murder in a lift.

And Neville will face his biggest decision yet. Will he finally get his happy ever after?
