The cast of Queer Eye have shared their heartbreak over one of the Fab Five deciding to leave after its latest series.

Interior design expert Bobby Berk has revealed he’ll be departing the super successful Netflix series at the end of series eight in the new year.

Bobby was part of the celebrated Fab Five alongside Tan France, Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness and Karamo Brown.

In an emotional social media post, the decor guru wrote on both Instagram and X: “To the Queer Eye Community who have become family to me. The love that I have received from you all over the last six years has been absolutely surreal.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I announce that season 8 will be my final season on Queer Eye. It’s not been an easy decision to be at peace with, but a necessary one. Although my journey with Queer Eye is over, my journey with you is not. You will be seeing more of me very soon.”

Announcing both the news of Bobby’s exit and the series eight reveal, the official Queer Eye Instagram account posted a smiling cast photo alongside the caption: “After six incredible years of life-changing transformations, Season 8 will be Bobby Berk’s last with the Fab Five. We appreciate the heart and dedication he has brought to Queer Eye and wish him the very best.”

Bobby’s Queer Eye pals were clearly overwhelmed with the news, with all the remaining Fab Five rushing to his Instagram statement to share their love for their co-star.

Culture expert Karamo replied: “We are #ForeverTheFab5 | no matter what. I’m about to be a Netflix’s door & e-mails telling them you can’t leave! Who is coming with me? 😢😍 I love you!”

“#foreverthefab5 indeed, and don’t forget it,” Antoni commented, while both Jonathan and Tan shared numerous love hearts.

Queer Eye landed on Netflix in 2018 and was immediately praised for its wholesome take on the original noughties series, then titled Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. In both shows, the Fab Five help transform one person struggling to build a life they love.

Fashion stylist Tan recently stopped by the Virgin Radio studios and opened up about the empathy that the QE team have been able to show on telly. While on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch, the sartorial specialist revealed: “We’ve all gone through incredibly difficult times, and so we’re able to empathise with the people we help. And so I think that my superpower on the show is that I feel so deeply for these people that we help.”

Queer Eye series eight will land on Netflix on 24th January 2024.
