Could Leigh Francis and Robbie Williams feature in a film together?

That’s what Leigh’s pal - actor and writer Tony Pitts - has in mind.

Leigh, who soundtracks Saturday afternoons on Virgin Radio with great songs and chat, revealed all on his show.

Having played Angels by Robbie Williams, Leigh said to listeners: “Robbie Williams, loving angels. He just loves the angels. I love Robbie Williams, a lovely fella. Another lovely fella is one of my friends, Tony Pitts, who called me the other day. He's writing a movie. He says, ‘Do you know Robbie Williams?’. I said, ‘Well, I know him to say hello to.’”

Leigh continued: “I said, ‘I filmed with him. He did a scene in a Keith & Paddy Picture Show, when we did a spoof of Ghostbusters’. He says, ‘Good, because I've written a scene in a film with you and Robbie Williams. Can you drive a low rider?’ I said, ‘Yes, I can’. And I didn't know what that meant but when someone asks you if you can drive a low rider for a film part, you say yes. Then you Google it and you go, ‘Oh they are those long cars, those long American cars’. So I guess it's like driving a normal car.”

Leigh’s mate Tony played Archie Brooks in Emmerdale, and also starred in Rogue One and Line of Duty as DCS Lester Hargreaves. “Tony Pitts is a lovely fella, and he's always trying to spread joy,” Leigh said to listeners. “At the moment he's doing a campaign, getting people to do skipping. He says it makes you feel really good.”

If he does manage to persuade Take That legend Robbie to star in a film with our own Leigh, that would certainly be the cause of much joy!

Listen to Leigh Francis on Saturdays between 12.30pm-4pm on Virgin Radio UK on DAB, online, Sky TV, smart speakers or via the Virgin Radio UK app.
