Timothée Chalamet continues to wow audience's and peers, as his Wonka director sings his praises about his 'beautiful' voice.

Director Paul King can't contain his excitement for the talented Timothée Chalamet, who is set to star in the upcoming film Wonka, an adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

King recently sang praises for Chalamet's impressive singing skills, even likening him to the legendary Bing Crosby. He shared his enthusiasm in an interview with Total Film:

“[He]’s got a beautiful singing voice,” he gushed to the publication. “The person it reminded me of was Bing Crosby. There’s quite a range because it does go from a couple of bigger, showstopper-y sort of things, to moments of real, pure emotion, and he can do it all… I’m going to sound like a crazed fan.”

But what's the scoop on Wonka and its musical numbers? King wanted to clarify that while the film does feature songs, it shouldn't be labeled as a traditional musical:

“The Oompa Loompas sing a lot in the book, and Dahl always uses poetry,” King explained. “But I didn’t want it to just become a musical where people are singing dialogue to each other for no discernible reason. I felt like it was more like a movie with songs than a musical.”

It's not the first time King has praised Chalamet. In a previous chat with Rolling Stone, he revealed that Chalamet didn't even need to audition for the role; he was the only person King could imagine as Wonka:

"But because he’s Timothée Chalamet and his life is so absurd, his high school musical performances are on YouTube and have hundreds of thousands of views,” King explained. “So I knew from stanning for Timmy Chalamet that he could sing and dance really well. And I knew that was in his arsenal, but I didn’t know how good he was.”

Wonka boasts an impressive ensemble cast, with Hugh Grant donning the role of an Oompa Loompa, Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Colin O'Brien, Matt Lucas, Simon Farnaby, Natasha Rothwell, Rufus Jones, and many more.

Of that impressive cast, Olivia Coleman was also happy to sing the praises of the film's young lead.

While speaking to Variety at the premiere for Empire of Light, at the end of last year, she praised Chalamet's performance as the eccentric chocolatier.

Colman's role in the film has remained somewhat of a mystery but it would appear, at least from the recently released trailer, that the academy award winning actress will be putting her talents towards a more outwardly villainous role than any other time in her career.

“He’s doing something different," she said when talking about Chalamet.

She continued: "It’s such a treat. He’s so beautiful on-screen. He’s magical.”

The film promises to be a delightful and musical journey into the whimsical world of Willy Wonka, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release.

Wonka is set to be released in theatres on December 15.
