Having picked up the TV Presenter prize at the National Television Awards 2023, Ant & Dec have spoken about the 20th series of their massively-popular show, Saturday Night Takeaway, which will be the last before they “give the show a bit of a rest”.
The Geordie duo announced earlier this year that the 2024 series of the hit entertainment show will be the last “for a little while”, and now they have shared an update on what we can expect.
Speaking to virginradio.co.uk and other press from the winners’ room at the NTAs last night (5th September), Dec said: “It's our last series next year. It will be series 20, so we thought that was a good opportunity to kind of give the show a bit of a rest, for us to take a bit of a rest, because it takes up such a lot of our time.
“So yeah, we're going out on a high. We've got to make it bigger and better than ever before. We've thrown everything at it. So we've only got seven shows in the series, and we're just going to treat them like seven special weeks. And yeah, go out on a high. I hope everybody enjoys it and, and comes along for the ride.”
Describing the next series as “fun and frantic”, Dec added: “There'll be new stuff. We're going to bring back some old stuff, some old favourites from the last 20 years.”
Having had such a glittering career in telly, when asked what they would go back and tell their younger selves if they could, Ant said: “That it's all going to be alright. And I think, you know, most of us can probably go back and tell our younger selves, ‘Do you know what, when you get older, it's all gonna be alright… Just don't worry about it so much. And enjoy’.”
Dec added: “Enjoy the ride. None of us kind of know what's going to happen next. None of us know how long we're going to be here for and how long we're going to be doing what we're doing. So just enjoy every minute, grab every opportunity.”
Elsewhere at the NTAs, presenter Holly Willoughby said that she 'doesn't yet know' what the future holds for This Morning, and Lee Mack spoke about the future of The 1% Club.
