Carol Kirkwood reveals plans for 'intimate' wedding

Popular weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has opened up about her relationship with her fiancé.

When the BBC star joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch recently to discuss her new novel, Secrets of the Villa Amore, she talked about her relationship with police officer Steve Randall. 

When Tom Allen, who was in for Chris, mentioned the fact that her “husband” brings her a cup of tea each morning when she has to get up at 2.45am to work on BBC Breakfast, Carol replied: “He’s not my husband yet!”

She joked: “He’s probably shaking in his shoes now!”

However, she did confirm to Tom that she is engaged to Steve, and that it was “announced at the Chelsea Flower Show”.

Indeed, having announced their engagement live on BBC Breakfast in May 2022, now the mother of meteorology has spoken about wedding plans with her fiancé. 

Talking to The Mirror, she said: “We’re very happy and we’re loved up, and we’re delighted to be together but we haven’t got a wedding date yet.

“I think we’ll have an intimate wedding, we don’t want to just squeeze it in, we want it to be a celebration.”

Speaking more about how Steve gets up early to make her tea in the morning, she told The Mirror: “Even though I say to him every time, ‘don’t get up, you go back to sleep’ he always insists on getting me my tea.”

She added: “He’s so kind, and that’s really important to me. I know kindness is a buzzword at the moment, but it’s really important in a relationship.”

Carol and her first husband Jimmy Kirkwood, divorced in 2008 having married in the 1990s.

The TV presenter’s new book - which is set on the Amalfi Coast - is out now, and also features a wedding. Speaking to Tom Allen about it when she visited Virgin Radio, she said: “Anybody who's anybody has been invited. So, from glamorous Hollywood starlets to the mafia, and really no expense has been spared for this wedding. But both families have secrets that could ruin lives, that could ruin relationships as well.”

She teased: “All the guests gather, and their murder, jealousy, intrigue, betrayal and romance are all about to be revealed… and some secrets.”
