Pop icon Madonna has been seen out and about for the first time following her recent hospitalisation.

In June, the singer spent several days in intensive care after falling ill with a “serious bacterial infection”, and as a result, she postponed her upcoming Celebration Tour.

Madonna was then taken home to recover, and was last reported to be “feeling better and following doctors orders.”

Sources with “direct” knowledge recently told TMZ that the 64-year-old star’s recovery is “not going as quickly as she expected”, with one source saying that she's still "weak and very tired," and spending a significant amount of time in bed.

Despite the insider info, it seems Madge is back up and about, and was spotted spending time in New York with a friend on Sunday (9th July).

In footage posted by journalist Lauren Conlin, Madonna was seen standing chatting to her friend while on the street.

Lauren introduced the clip saying: “Guess who we saw out and about today looking great.”

Madonna was keeping a low profile in blue shorts and matching shirt, with oversized sunglasses and a floppy hat keeping the sunshine at bay.

When Madge’s talent manager, Guy Oseary, first announced news of her illness in a statement, he said (on 29th June): “At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows."

The epic, 84-date run of shows was set to begin in Vancouver on 15th July. A source recently told US Weekly: “Although Madonna is looking forward to getting back to work as soon as possible, she’s also taking her recovery seriously and isn’t going to rush anything because she is focused on her health above all else.”

Whilst it is not known when the tour will commence, the Vogue singer has six UK dates scheduled, all of them at London’s O2. These are set to be on Saturday 14th, Sunday 15th, Tuesday 17th, Wednesday 18th October 2023, Tuesday 5th December and Wednesday 6th December 2023.
