Oasis fans are hoping Liam Gallagher sticks to his word after suggesting the band will only reunite if Manchester City win the Champions League.

Liam and brother Noel Gallagher have been vocal fans of Man City for years, and the team won their first European title on Saturday, June 10th against Inter Milan in Istanbul.

It now seems that Rodri’s deciding goal could not only bring back the historic treble to the city - but also its most famous double for a long anticipated reunion.

Following his beloved City's triumph, a Tweet from Liam went viral after it appeared the singer would promise to get in touch with his famous sibling should their team pick up the coveted trophy.

Liam promised fans on Twitter: “If Man City wins the Champions League i call my brother and i bring back the f****n band together LG x”

This may still turn out to be another classic example of the singer speaking before thinking as the tweet has now been deleted.

The Tweet had many Oasis fans living in hope.

Despite this, fans had already taken a screenshot of the singer’s pledge and once time had been called at Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul many people, including Australian comedian Jim Jefferies, were ready to hold Liam to account.

Tensions have always been high between Liam and Noel but rumours of the brotherly feud ending and Oasis reforming have caused regular media frenzies ever since the band split in August of 2009 after an altercation backstage at Rock en Seine festival in Paris.

Noel recently weighed on the potential of the band reforming matter during a colourful interview on talkSPORT. As well as discussing the potential of the treble for Man City. Noel stated he’s “...open to a phonecall…” but “He [Liam] won’t speak to me - he’s a coward!”.

This sparked yet another twitter flurry from Liam, who said: “Noel I know you check my tweets call me I’m actually concerned about you we all are…” as well going further with the comment: “I turn up and play the MUSIC for the people of MANCHESTER who have just had a terror attack while you sit on your dingy sipping champagne and you got the audacity to call me a COWARD sit down you b*****d.”
