Pawsome news from South Korea and imagine if there was a way to identify a lost dog without taking it to the vet to see if it was chipped? If only dogs had fingerprints, like humans? Well they do, except the prints aren’t on their paws.

Say Anyong haseyo to the team at Yonsei University in Seoul who’ve discovered that every dog has a unique nose print and designed an app that can identify any dog with 99% accuracy.

Collars can be removed, tags can fall off, and who has a microchip scanner in their home? The app allows dog owners to send in a phone pic of their dog's nose close up and the app does the rest because dog’s noses are like our thumbs, a unique identifier. Even cat owners can get in on this because the AI app can ID cats but with their whole face instead of just their noses.

It’s called Petnow and it’s being used in South Korea, Spain, and the US, and even better it’s free and heading for the UK soon!

Iridescent news from here in the UK as scientists discover a way of cooling homes without the need for air conditioning and it’s remarkably beautiful too!

Say hello to a team of scientists at Cambridge University who’ve been studying why beetle shells appear to shimmer in such vibrant colours. It turns out it’s mother nature’s way of stopping them from overheating and it’s because they have built in nanostructures which split the incoming light into different wavelengths and sends them away at those frequencies. It looks amazing but it’s also brilliantly practical. When the same nanostructures are put on a roof, the house will be 7.5 degrees cooler in the day and a whopping 20 degrees cooler at night.

Aircon is such a huge problem and increasingly as the world gets hotter, so these smart and CO2 free solutions are exactly what the world needs.
